Door lock with latch and night bolt

 

Central Europe, late 17th century

 

Malleable iron. Two-bolt mechanism in a case with a riveted grille featuring pierced, wrought acanthus leaves. Pierced support plate hammered into acanthus leaves. Forged latch handle. Equipped with a night bolt and catch (a sliding screw head in the upper section of the case). Decorated with hardening and engraving.
